Prior to teaching, I spent eight years in the restaurant and food service industry doing just about every job you can imagine. During those eight years I discovered a passion for working with people, and a confidence that I didn't know I had. It gave me a sense of purpose at a very young age, and it is my hope that my students find that same passion in my classroom, even if they don't move on to a career in the field.
I got my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education in 2001 from the University of Central Missouri. My official teaching career began in 2003 at Truman High School in Independence, Missouri, where I spent thirteen years teaching Family & Consumer Sciences. In the summer of 2016, I received my Masters in Educational Administration, also at the University of Central Missouri through the Collaborative Principal Preparation Program. I joined the RayPec High School community in 2016, and it has been my pleasure to finally teach in the community in which I live, and in the district my own children attend. I have spent the past three summers training at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and I'm excited to inspire students to discover their creativity and their talents through the culinary arts. |
At home, I have three beautiful children who inspire me to be a better person every day.
My daughter, Madilyn, is a Sophomore at the high school this year. She is a RayPec Prowler, so if you can't find me in the classroom, I'm most likely at a game watching her do what she loves. My son, Brody, is in the 7th grade at RayPec East Middle School. He is my kind-hearted, master LEGO builder. He will be in the middle school band this year, and the cross country team. My youngest son, Ty, is in Kindergarten at Creekmoor elementary. You can usually find him right behind Brody attempting to do everything his big brother does. He is discovering what he loves, but I can promise you it will involve a ball. I have been blessed with a beautiful life. |
